Interview and GIVEAWAY with photographer and jewellery designer Marie of the Blue Balloon
A little while ago, I came across this photo on Naomi Rose’s flickr stream , showing photos taken by Marie of the Blue Balloon. I loved the images, so I followed the links to Marie’s etsy shop , and man am I glad I did! Because as well as amazing photography, Marie sells lots of lovely vintage jewellery. I traded one of her necklaces for a knit hat, I’m wearing it here And she was kind enough to do an interview with me AND offer stuff for a giveaway! Woot! Let’s get on with the interview: ——————————————–.

What inspired you to start your label? I have a passion for art (and Jewellery Design in particular) because of the freedom it gives you to create whatever you want. I think that I was inspired to start my own brand as I saw it as a way to pursue this passion for design. How does the design process begin for you? When designing a collection, I like to design around real people and the themes within their lifestyle. I look at the shapes and textures that I associate with this theme and begin to build up an image of pieces in my head. As I have a strong Fine Art background, I draw my ideas down from the start.

Fashion Guilty Pleasures: Make A Statement in TomTom Jewellery
I do like a good statement necklace. I completely believe that that one piece of jewellery can lift and make an entire outfit which without it can look kinda “meh”. So imagine my response when this necklace from up-and-coming jewellery designer TomTom popped into my inbox: The royal blue spikes add interest to any a plain tee. I have fallen in love and plan to team the necklace with a grey marl tee and black pencil skirt for a simple but glamorous office look. If I love anything more than a statement necklace, it is a stunning and unique cocktail ring The collection by TomTom jewellery delivers on this too: This chevron cocktail ring is simple but certainly won’t go unnoticed. This gorgeous brass bracelet with a lovely aqua quartz stone on one side gives the collection a glamorous finish. What is your fashion guilty pleasure

Lisa E Moss Jewellery Rocks
This blog is all about Lisa E Moss’s jewellery because I LOVE it. Lisa is a British jewellery designer originally from Liverpool. She’s been designing for several years and I’m not sure how I’ve only just cottoned on to her stuff but anyway, it’s stunning. She produces one off statement pieces using precious metals and stones and other materials such as vintage bone, glass and leather. The pieces are quirky, unique and different. She offers a bespoke commission service and I’ve actually commissioned her to make me my very own necklace .

In case you had been hiding under a Styling You rock (or just new to my blog), you know that I’m obsessed by a big fan of statement jewellery. Now, the bespoke jewellery designers at Victoria-based Leoni & Vonk give good outfit icing. They design and make contemporary pieces as well as modern-day classics. See what I mean?
